Sometimes a key employee shows signs of a developing problem, for example, alcohol or drug abuse that impacts performance in the workplace and creates a situation that is difficult for fellow employees and customers.
Symptoms include impaired creativity and productivity, poor decisions, deteriorating public relations or expensive mistakes.
It is costly and time consuming to embark on dismissal procedures, as is finding a replacement. Perhaps this has been valued employee, with key experience and knowledge of your business, who has served well for many years.
Better to correct the problem and keep the executive. A professionally supported Intervention may be appropriate.
It is important to act only within the confines of legality and professional ethics, and only with deepest respect for the executive involved. But the risk of delay is great for both the executive and the organization.
Call for assistance. Engage an experienced professional Interventionist. Intervention with top executives in a corporate or other professional setting has been proved to be very effective.
However, there are many issues unique to Interventions conducted in these circumstances. Public relation issues, legal implications, continuing care and return-to-work matters, and disclosure issues can all be extremely delicate. These and other matters must all be handled with extreme care.
